RankAnalyze Review: Ranking Audits, Head-to-Head Comparisons, and AI Citation Tracking in One Tool

You already know who your competitors are. The hard part is knowing why a visitor picks their page over yours, whether your own pages still say what you think they say six months after you published them, and whether ChatGPT is naming you or naming someone else.

RankAnalyze is built around that whole problem, not just one slice of it. It bundles eight separate audit workflows into one workspace: Ranking Audit (what the top-ranking pages cover that yours doesn't), Head-to-Head (your page directly against one competitor's), Brand Deep Dive (a full-site scorecard, weakest page to strongest), Post-Publish Audit (catches drift on pages already live), Competitor Radar (alerts the moment a competitor's pricing or feature page changes), GEO Scan (tracks whether AI platforms cite you, and who they cite instead), Asset Audit (fact-checks a draft against its source before it ships), and Rank Tracker (a straightforward ranking checker).

This review walks through all eight, then spends the most time on Head-to-Head specifically, with a real report we ran between a mid-sized AI tools review site and one of the biggest AI tool directories online. We'll also compare RankAnalyze as a whole against Rank Math, Frase, Ahrefs, and Semrush.

The 8 Workflows Inside RankAnalyze

01 · Ranking Audit

Enter a page and a keyword. RankAnalyze fetches live Google results at that exact moment, for the country and language you pick, and compares your page against whatever's actually winning right now, not a cached snapshot.

  • Topic Coverage Matrix: subtopic by subtopic, your page scored against the leading pages' average.
  • White Space Opportunities: ranked by citation potential, ranking impact, traffic and value, not just listed.
  • Quick Wins: low-effort on-page fixes triaged separately from the structural rewrites, so you know which to do first.

The full report also covers Structural Elements, Entity Gaps, and E-E-A-T signals.

02 · Head-to-Head

Your page against one named competitor's, scored on where you lead and where you trail. Covered in full detail below, with a real report.

  • SWOT: strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats, generated directly from both pages, not a template.
  • Competitor Profile: their value prop, audience, voice and market tier, summarized from what's actually on their page.
  • Pricing Intelligence: what they charge, or deliberately don't disclose, and where that leaves them exposed.

The full report also covers a feature matrix and keyword gap analysis.

03 · Brand Deep Dive

A full-site pass. Every page scored weakest to strongest, with a concrete fix attached to every single finding, never just a number.

  • 15 checks per page, spanning visual & copy, content, UX & friction, page structure, and trust signals.
  • Weakest-first ranking: tells you exactly which page to fix before the next one, not an alphabetical list.
  • A fix for every finding: no score ever ships without a next step attached to it.
04 · Post-Publish Audit

Re-checks pages you've already published against your own source of truth, on a schedule.

  • Claim Health: every claim on the page marked verified, unverifiable, or contradicted against your source document.
  • Dead-link sweep: broken links surfaced automatically in the same pass, no separate crawl needed.
  • Score vs. last run: regression tracking, so drift shows up the moment it appears instead of months later.
05 · Competitor Radar

Watches a competitor's pricing, product, or feature pages and alerts you the instant something changes, instead of you manually checking their site every week.

  • Smart setup: point it at a domain and it finds the products worth tracking for you, you don't build the list by hand.
  • Daily, weekly, or monthly check schedules, set per competitor, per page.
  • Strategic briefs: written summaries you can forward straight to Slack or a meeting, not a raw diff.
06 · GEO Scan

Tracks whether ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, and Copilot cite you for the questions your buyers actually ask.

  • Citation Readiness Score: category visibility and page readiness scored separately, not blended into one number.
  • Competitor citations: see exactly who gets named instead of you, and for which question.
  • Prioritized fixes: ranked this-week vs. later, so content investment isn't guesswork.

The full report also covers answer-gap analysis and schema recommendations.

07 · Asset Audit

Drop in a translated article, ad copy, sales deck, or product mockup, and RankAnalyze checks it against the original source of truth before a customer ever sees it.

  • Terminology & factual accuracy: every claim and term checked against the source, contradictions flagged line by line.
  • Marketing-claim safety: unverifiable stats and exaggerated claims caught before they become a legal or credibility risk.
  • Toxicity check: flags hostile, unprofessional, or off-brand language automatically.

The full report also covers completeness scoring and render/mockup defect checks.

08 · Rank Tracker

A straightforward SEO ranking checker, separate from the full Ranking Audit, for when you just want to know where a page stands right now. Starter runs it up to 10 times a day (50/week cap); Pro runs it up to 50 times a day.

Head-to-Head: Compare Your Page Against a Competitor's

Head-to-Head is the workflow that puts your page directly against one competitor's: messaging, pricing, a full SWOT and competitor profile, a feature matrix, and keyword and AI-citation gaps, scored as a single Competitive Gap Index (CGI) from 0 to 100.

We ran it for real between a mid-sized AI tools review site and one of the biggest AI tool directories online, a genuine mismatch on paper (50,000+ backlinks vs. 15). Head-to-Head still scored the smaller site 53/100, "Competitive," and turned up concrete fixes: the authority gap itself can't be closed except with links, but losing tool-name searches traced to a missing page-per-tool, and a missing newsletter signup was an easy win sitting right there.

RankAnalyze vs. Rank Math vs. Frase vs. Ahrefs vs. Semrush

These four tools each do one job well. RankAnalyze's pitch isn't that it beats any single one of them at their own specialty, it's that the 8-workflow bundle covers ground none of them individually do, mainly the page-vs-one-competitor comparison, scheduled drift detection, and fact-checking an unpublished draft.

Read it as complementary, not a replacement for any of them. If your main gap is technical WordPress compliance, Rank Math still does that job better, RankAnalyze doesn't touch schema or sitemaps at all. If you need domain-wide backlink or PPC intelligence, Ahrefs and Semrush go deeper there than RankAnalyze's page-level backlink summary does. What RankAnalyze adds on top is the page-vs-page comparison, the scheduled drift and competitor-change monitoring, and the draft fact-checking, none of which the other four do today.

Honest Limits

Head-to-Head doesn't look at competitors' ads. You won't see their ad copy, ad spend, paid keywords or ad history. If paid search is where you compete hardest, you'll need a tool like Semrush alongside it. RankAnalyze also doesn't do technical, on-page WordPress SEO (schema, sitemaps, redirects), that's Rank Math's job, not RankAnalyze's.

FAQs

What else does RankAnalyze do besides Head-to-Head?

Head-to-Head is one of eight workflows. The others are Ranking Audit (what top-ranking pages cover that yours doesn't), Brand Deep Dive (a full-site scorecard, weakest page to strongest), Post-Publish Audit (catches drift on pages already live), Competitor Radar (alerts when a competitor's pricing or feature pages change), GEO Scan (tracks whether AI platforms cite you), Asset Audit (fact-checks a draft against its source before it ships), and Rank Tracker (a straightforward ranking checker).

Does RankAnalyze track AI citations the way Ahrefs or Frase does?

RankAnalyze has its own version, called GEO Scan, and the other two have their own AI-visibility features (Ahrefs' Brand Radar, Frase's AI Visibility tracker), so this isn't unique to RankAnalyze. What's different about GEO Scan is the framing: it names which specific competitor got cited instead of you for a given question, rather than just reporting your own brand's visibility in isolation.

Does RankAnalyze replace Rank Math or another WordPress SEO plugin?

No. Rank Math handles technical, on-page WordPress SEO: schema markup, sitemaps, meta tags, redirects. RankAnalyze doesn't touch any of that. It audits content quality, competitors, and AI citations instead. The two solve different problems and work fine side by side.

How much does RankAnalyze cost?

Free: 300 credits a month, with 1 Ranking Audit a month included. Starter ($99/month): 7 Head-to-Head comparisons, 7 Ranking Audits, a weekly GEO Scan, 20 Brand Deep Dive pages, and Competitor Radar on up to 20 watched pages. Pro ($299/month): 20 Head-to-Head comparisons, 20 Ranking Audits, a daily GEO Scan, 50 Brand Deep Dive pages, Competitor Radar on up to 50 pages, plus Asset Audit and Post-Publish Audit.

Verdict

RankAnalyze's Head-to-Head is a good fit if you already know who your main competitor is and want to know exactly why a visitor might pick them. It's especially useful before a pricing change or a relaunch, or when your sales team needs a battlecard. The score breakdown and CGI charts point straight at the gaps instead of leaving you to dig through numbers, so you spend your time acting on findings, not hunting for them.

The wider product is the stronger case, though. No single one of Rank Math, Frase, Ahrefs, or Semrush covers the full set of things RankAnalyze's 8 workflows do together, scheduled drift detection on pages you've already published, competitor change alerts, and fact-checking a draft before it ships are not things any of those four tools currently offer. What it isn't: a technical SEO plugin (that's Rank Math) or a domain-wide backlink and PPC platform (that's Ahrefs and Semrush). It fits alongside those, not instead of them.
